A man breathed in toxic smoke last night as Chelmsford firefighters battled a blaze at 'Verde Pizza and Pasta' in Duke Street. The fire saw two fire engines be called at 1.01am.When they arrived, crews said the restaurant was completely smoke logged, and had to wear breathing apparatus. A man, aged 30, suffered from smoke inhalation. One hose reel was used to put out the blaze by 1.27am. A high pressure fan was then used to ventilate the shop.
