Armed officers attended Knights Way in Dunmow at around 10pm on Tuesday, September 1, following reports that a man was in the area carrying two firearms.
The man was shot by armed officers. He suffered leg injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment where he currently remains.
The 48-year-old man from Dunmow was arrested in relation to firearms offences.
