An elderly couple were airlifted at Walton-on-the-Naze after becoming marooned by the high tide.
Eye witness Matt Devenport described the scene, he said: "We were at Walton-on-the-Naze when the RAF Sea King helicopter started doing sweeps of the beach at 2pm to let people know the tide was coming in.
"This elderly couple must have ignored the warning as at 3pm a coastguard pick-up arrived with flashing lights and a two-man team rushed down to the beach.
"The couple had found themselves trapped...
