Residents have praised the work of staff involved in the Jaywick, Mistley and West Mersea evacuations last week.Police triggered the evacuation of homes in all three villages on Friday (Janaury 13) to keep people safe ahead of the water rising.But some Jaywick people refused to leave their homes despite the severe weather warnings and insistence from the police.Laurence Beales, who lives in Osyth Beach, said: "I think the operation was very good, I've got nothing but praise for the staff....
