Emergency 999 calls for ambulances are now being answered nearly 20 seconds quicker than they were a year ago, after an overhaul of communication systems.The latest Government figures for the time taken to answer calls reveal that 95 per cent were picked up in five seconds during July, compared to 23 seconds in September 2014.
