THE air ambulance was dispatched close to Finchingfield on the day of the Tour de France today after a man collapsed in a crowd waiting for the peloton to arrive
Medics, already at the scene reportedly attempted to revive the man for at least 10 minutes after he was taken ill at around 10.30am, near a metal footbridge, by the green in the picturesque parish.
An Essex Police spokesman confirmed its officers assisted paramedics.
