Ambulance services received 1,000 calls above average during the May Day Bank Holiday weekend throughout the East of England.
The phone lines were busiest in Essex with nearly a third of the 8,008 calls to the control room being made from the county.
Falls were named as the most popular reason for calls over the three days with 1,522 such calls.
Crews and call sentre staff responded to 857 calls of general sickness, 212 regarding road traffic collisions and 116 for heart problems.
