Stubborn residents in Jaywick are refusing to leave their homes this despite a severe weather warning. The police and army were due to begin evacuating 2,500 homes from the seaside village, on the coast of Essex, at 10am. However many vowed to stay put despite warnings that a storm surge - a combination of high tides and strong winds - threatened to flood their homes today.
